In the south of Hanover Region near Springe the "Wisentgehege Springe" (European-bison park) shows 109 species of animals typical of the region. It is an area of 90 acres between the villages of Eldagsen and Springe. The animals are kept in their familiar habitat with oak woods, beech woods, alder swamp forests, ponds, meadows, and creeks. The area is called "Saupark Springe" because of its beginning as an animal park for boars. In the proximity there is the uplands region called "Deister"; here you have the opportunity to undertake extensive hikes through a wooded hillscape with beautiful views over the flatter landscape.
